CVS Health Live: Bringing Mental Health Services to Underserved Communities

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, nearly 53 million people in the U.S. live with a mental illness and about 50% of them are not receiving the help they need. In recognition of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) Mental Health Month in July, CVS Health joined Mental Health America to discuss the stigma of seeking mental health care and how they’re working together to address mental health care inequities in historically underserved communities.

Moderated by Jessica DaMassa, Health Innovation Reporter, our panelists included Joneigh Khaldun, M.D., Vice President and Chief Health Equity Officer, CVS Health; Jill Carlton, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Behavioral Health Associate Manager, Aetna, a CVS Health company; and Allissa Torres, Director of Mental Health Equity, Mental Health America.

  2. The online doctor is a lie, paid $59 just to tell me a website, didn't care about the patient's body at all, didn't even ask about the symptoms! i will never believe it again

  3. I have been prescribed methadone for 8 years.
In January my doctor submitted my prescription.
3 hours later I was sent a text saying my prescription was delayed.
When I called I was told it would be 5 days before to store I had used for years had no methadone and made no effort to transfer my prescription to another store, several sitting a few minutes drive.
The pharmacist seemed to take delight in telling me nothing could be done.
In other words CVS could have caused me great bodily harm or worse.
At 66 years of.age, and in poor health, the stock of sudden withdrawal from methadone is dangerous. CVS did not care.
Thankfully Walgreens said for my doctor to submit my prescription to them they would fill it.
I changed all 9 prescriptions I have every month to Walgreens as well as getting my COVID booster at Walgreens.
One prescription alone is $900 dollars. In total, counting this year's flu and pneumonia shot, CVS lost $1,500 a month business as I buy nothing there anymore.
The total arrogance of CVS to endanger my health by not having my Methadone in stock was a shock.
The pharmacist kept replying to my plea to help by saying " anything else."
Don't stop CVS if you have a loved one needed pain medications.
As if I lived to be 66 by misusing my medication.
