The reason for the shortage is the crappy pay. Starting salaries are between $18 to $25 an hour. It's too expensive to live in San Diego. New graduates are heading to far less expensive regions.
I worked in healthcare for three decades and left when my salary kept going down to the point I could not survive on it. Corporate greed and insuranced companies is what causef our healthcare system to be where irt is today. Reform is badly needed.
