Doctor On Elon Musk’s Mental Health Diagnosis

Elon Musk hosted Saturday Night Live this last weekend and revealed in his opening monologue that he has Asperger’s Syndrome. While we support Elon in coming out with his diagnosis, there are a few things to clarify as we understand Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD’s).

  1. I never knew about this channel for so long, but for me, what helped me to overcome my challenges with ASD was a program at my high school called Yes I Can that still teaches Autism awareness and advocacy for others, especially against hate crimes. Every summer, towards the end of the semester near May or June, depending on plans in the school year, they put on an Autism awareness fundraiser and concert called the Summer Meltdown, so if you're in southern California, I highly recommend checking it out next year. I was lucky my parents noticed the symptoms after research about what was then known as Asperger's Syndrome had become public knowledge. I was even luckier to not just have a program at my high school that could teach me how to live with my diagnosis, but that I also had a friend from my childhood who I had known was diagnosed with ASD and he remains one of the most intelligent and kind people I know

  2. Pregnant women have to eliminate or thoroughly wash all produce to rid of toxins and pesticides. Also avoid fish while pregnant. Also have kids young, 35 being your last pregnancy (35 doesn’t fit all women, but in general risks highly increase around this age)

  3. Seriously. I shared with a few people that my son was diagnosed autistic and you would’ve thought I said he was terminally ill by their reaction. It’s clear there is still loads to be done as far as education and awareness. Thank you dr. Mike!

  4. Elon Musk is still a fraudulent sociopathic monster who makes his money exploiting other people’s ability while his businesses are propped up from taxpayer money.

  5. I was sent to a psychiatrist as an adult. I asked her about Aspergers (my brother told me to ask) and was told that it was someone who acts like Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man. Somehow I feel like that psychiatrist failed me. I was put on so many different depression medications for ten years.

  6. I dont like to self diagnose as i went on antidepressants that just completely messed up my head. I probably have a neurological issue. I was born blue not breathing so anything is possible.

  7. Musk is mentally ill. He is acting more and more strangely. If you believe you are smarter than everyone and you have great wealth, you have to learn to understand you are just a person.

  8. That's being very picky.

    Most of medicine is bunk.
Most medical publications are bunk. If not outright fraud.

    Autism schmautism.

Yes I am on that spectrum.
And yes I do love my wife and son, both doctors.

  9. Autism in an adult abusing others and inciting abuse in others is in no manner a "difference" where the behavior is criminal. For life of leisure autism experience telling someone on a global platform to
" *UCK your own face" is verbal abuse to children and adults who are reading that

  10. I'm on the spectrum. I understand why people might not want "Aspergers" to be the name, because of who Hans Asperger was. But I do think this needs to be a distinct diagnosis, whatever name it has.

Aspergers differs from other forms of ASD, because it's characterized by no significant developmental delays. This will likely mean a different experience & journey in your autism, because it's those early developmental delays that allow earlier diagnosis. Someone without developmental delays may not ever be diagnosed, certainly less likely in childhood. That can lead to different outcomes.

Also, I'm sorry, but I don't believe Musk has ASD. I suspect narcissistic personality disorder. It fits a lot better; he's said & done things that just don't seem like autistic behaviors. It makes a lot of sense to "self-diagnose" as autistic instead of as a narcissist. I knew someone who lied to me & told me they were diagnosed with autism, & it eventually became clear this was a narcissist instead.

  11. Leon is the first South African to move to my home state and take up that fake cowboy Nazi persona.😂 George Bush must have talked him into it because he was so successful with it.

  12. Sadly in many countries people with ASD's are not given support or oppurtunities
Take Egypt for example if you have ASD you can only study law and rights (you basically memorize one book in this college) or basic algebra in arabic only (basically addition subtraction multiplication division)
If a person with ASD is pretty talented in programing he won't be able to enter CS college or take government funded courses wo they would have to take a private course which most people can't afford and they can take online courses if they can afford internet
And there many more countries which don't support people with ASD

  13. I think the weak knowledge of neurology, psychology, and mental health are why people hold stigmas against us with Asperger's or Autism.

I actually would prefer to say Asperger's simply because of the negative connotation attributed to Autism. As an adult and accomplished person with an executive presence that others notice quickly, now I don't care to play with my words. I've learned to immediately earn the respect and admiration of most pekple I meet, so after that I can just say whatever honest words I please.

  14. I think it's fair to point out that, although Elon Musk is an amoral, fascistic @sshole, lack of character is not in any way caused by being in the ASD.
