  1. More than a dozen states and the District of Columbia filed lawsuits against TikTok on Tuesday, saying that the popular short-form video app is designed to be addictive to kids and harms their mental health.

The lawsuits stem from a national investigation into TikTok, which was launched in March 2022 by a bipartisan coalition of attorneys general from many states, including New York, California, Kentucky and New Jersey. All of the complaints were filed in state courts.

At the heart of each lawsuit is the TikTok algorithm, which powers what users see on the platform by populating the app’s main “For You” feed with content tailored to people’s interests. The lawsuits note TikTok design features that they say addict children to the platform, such as the ability to scroll endlessly through content, push notifications that come with built-in “buzzes” and face filters that create unattainable appearances for users.

  2. About freaking time. Children should not be on social media at all. NONE. Not even YouTube. Their minds are still in development and susceptible to detrimental to brain development.

  3. So let me see..the US wants TikTok to sell. Because they said they don't want China involved in it. But now they sue TikTok because they say its harmful to kid mental health. So why not just ban it in the US? If its that bad for kids. Then ban it.

  4. That's ironic considering schools are gaying the kids with indoctrination and brainwashing through pornographic material including sexually graphic books for kids and videos and photographs

  5. I have never seen on Tik Tok or Facebook for that matter the kind of intentional disinformation and bullying that goes on YouTube.

    Waiting for that lawsuit!

  6. why stop there? sue tv manufacturers, sue cable companies, sue videogame developers; ANYTHING but pretend to do your own job as a parent 🤗
