Memories of a Merger that Transformed Mental Healthcare

In 1998, the Addiction Research Foundation, the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry, the Queen Street Mental Health Centre, and the Donwood Institute merged to create a new public hospital: the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Dr. Paul Garfinkel, the man who lead the merger from concept to reality, looks back at the negotiations which led to the formation of an organization that has transformed the delivery of mental health care in Ontario.
