Alberta announces $70M investment in mental health classrooms – September 11, 2024

In Edmonton, Dan Williams, Alberta’s minister of mental health and addiction, announces an investment of $70 million over three years to CASA Mental Health with the goal of building up to 60 mental health classrooms across the province. In these classrooms, students will be able to receive individual and group therapy, psychiatric care, medication and schooling according to their individual needs.

He is joined by Ken Wlos (principal, Bev Facey Community High School), Bonnie Blakley (chief executive officer, CASA Mental Health), Janet Hancock (board chair, CASA Mental Health), Alicia Long (parent of CASA Mental Health Classroom alumni student), and Cathy Allen (board chair, Elk Island Public Schools).
