Alicia- Collaboration with Schools | Emerging Adults Seek Change in Mental Health Services

What’s one way to improve access to mental health services for Emerging Adults? Collaboration between schools and community mental health programs.

Emerging Adults (typically aged 14-25) are faced with a lack of services when transitioning from youth to adult mental health services, and often find themselves “aging out” of the child and youth system when they reach the age of majority (18 or 19). The Mental Health Commission of Canada is working to shape policy to bridge the gap and ease the transition between youth and adult mental health services so that Emerging Adults can have consistent access to the support they need, no matter their age.

This educational video series showcases the challenges and opportunities facing Emerging Adults as they transition from youth to adult mental health services. For more stories from Emerging Adults, click here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2NuAPXp8ohbUt1WW0ga4afMYMmRSr7WZ
