  1. SSRIs don't work on me because I have a serotonin transporter defect
Remeron was the only thing that ever really helped me but the weight gain was incredible and i had to come off it.

  2. Hello, Dr. Tracy
    Thanks for your videos.
My 19 year old daughter has bipolar 2 disorder and she’s taking
Lamotigine 200 mg, risperidone 2 mg,duloxetene 30mg,lorazepam 0.5 mg as needed. Her hypermanic lasts few days and her derpression cycle lasts almost a month. Could it be because of her medication?

  3. I think the biggest reason for my treatment resistant depression are social factors like my lack of social skills making me a loner and not seeing a future for myself as I am chronically ill and also have ADHD (inattentive type) so I am often either motivationless, cannot properly plan things due to procrastination. That has made my university studies harder. Once I start something, I will finish it but starting is really hard.

Bupropion helps me a bit but not enough. Had maaany different antidepressants already and all of them for many months and in high doses within the range.

  4. How does tramadol cause depression? I read that it actually helps against it if taken as XR for chronic pain (such as it was in my case) because some metabolites make it also an SNRI among others. Maybe other more recent studies show different things? I took high doses of it for years until regulations were changed and I was no longer allowed to take it in such doses and was switched to oxycodon 15mg XR all 12h. This is just anecdotal but I felt better under tramadol (less inactive).

  5. With respect – resolving treatment resistant depression using these medications and techniques, is completely and absolutely wrong..
While I would consider them useful in an emergency.. even then, there are only a limited few that are worth considering..

  6. I have TRD but, noticed after I had done the 36 treatments of TMS, the medications helped a little better. My problem is, they don't work for long. At this point, I have nothing else really to try. My current meds don't really work or therapy. No place near me available to try ketamine treatments (Or the money to cover the costs). ECT is only available for me if I was inpatient. At times, I just wanted to admit myself and, beg them that they would give me it.

Depression is pure hell…plain and simple. I feel so lost and have no hope for any part of my future. I just exist. No plans no goals no..nothing. I just wake up and do the same routine over and over and over again. Honestly, I'd agree to have my legs removed and live in a wheelchair, if it meant that I wouldn't have to deal with this day in, day out. TRD literally sucks all the life out of you.

I'm sure a lot of people here, can relate exactly as how I'm feeling. At my next psychiatrist appointment, I'm going to tell him I'm done with meds for good. I just realized that some people just can't be made better and, I don't want to stress him out more over trying to find a fix for me. I just have to accept it for what it is. I want other people / patients to be able to see him since, they might get better. That amazingly makes me feel somewhat good knowing that, another person might have a chance at a better life.

  7. Antibiotics cured me of severe, suicidal depression. I was labeled "treatment-resistant" but was helped by a Chinese doctor and a Colombian doctor.
Non-American doctors see depression as a whole-body issue.

  8. I love your podcast however that being said the dress or top you have on detracts from your message. It has a psychedelic quality that can grab your attention away from the message.. and I do love what you have to say.
You are very good at what you do except picking cloths.

  9. Hello Doctor… I wanted to let you know that after watching this on Christmas Eve last month, I immediately stopped taking Singulair. I was so severely depressed that I left my sister's house on Christmas Eve. I got home and I had enough, and I started researching a way to fix this. It's been just over 2 weeks now and I have noticed a drastic change in my severe depression issues that I've been suffering from for over 25 years. I was taking Singulair since it's release in 1998, and I even had to get authorization from my insurance just to get it. I had no idea there was a box warning from the FDA and none of my doctors ever said a word. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. You have helped me more than you could possibly imagine.

  10. My fmr husband was a psychiatrist for 25+ years. For patients w/ Tx resistant depression, one strategy was trying a <Stimulant> medication, such as Dexedrine or Ritalin.

  12. Ive been through 10 medications, and also did a DNA test and it showed every anti-depressant wouldn't work, we tried some anyways and only 2 said they would work and they made me miserable, the first didnt work and made my depression worse, the second gave me a Serotonin overload and caused me to be stuck in bed for almost 2 months vomiting and unable to hold down food, shaking, cold chills, and barely able to even use the restroom.

    Ive tried pretty much everything.

Tried weed, it helped a good amount for a year, then I started to develop Psychosis so weed is now out of the picutre….. my last option is shrooms but its illegal in my state lol. I hate it here.

  13. I have tried nearly every psych med known to man, from lithium to cymbalta, and all I get are side effects. This week I just started a parasite cleanse. I've heard that parasites can cause a variety of issues. I've done cleanses in the past, including fasting, and had some success. I'm 76 and I haven't done a gut cleanse for over 10 years. I have nothing to lose but a few bucks for the pills and possibly this intractable depression.

  14. I added Abilify to my depression treatment and it changed my life … for about two months. I really thought I found something that would finally work. It's so frustrating and discouraging to keep trying things and see mixed results.

  15. 7 months of deep depression, depersonalisation and 100% Insomnia. On a cocktail of Mertazapine, Quitiapine, Melatonin and Zopiclone to knock me out at night. Still getting knocked out but less and less sleep. Depression is so deep.
