Requirements to become a licensed therapist in the state of Illinois and across the country have become more rigid due to CACREP requirements. Where is the evidence counseling programs must be 60 credit hours in order to produce competent clinicians? Why would anyone pay 40k to 100k for a degree with a low ROI? I think we need to find a way to make the cost of clinician training cheaper without compromising patient/client outcomes. Otherwise, this gap will continue to widen.
Start making licensing easier across states. The wait time is absolutely ridiculous
I read a lot of articles on the matter and none of them address that the pay sucks. Pay clinicians a decent wage and people will see it as a sustainable career.
