“One of the great contributing factors to mental illness is the idea that we should at all costs and and all times be well. We suffer far more than we should because of how long it can take many of us until we allow ourselves to fall properly and usefully ill.

For many years we may be able skilfully to evade our symptoms, pulling off an an accomplished impression of what counts – in our unobservant societies – as a healthy human. We may gain all the accoutrements of so-called success – love, a career, family, prestige – without anyone bothering to note the sickness behind our eyes. We may take care to fill our days with activity so that we can be guaranteed to have no time to address any of the sores that blister inside. We can rely on the extraordinary prestige of being busy to avoid the truly hard work of doing nothing – other than sit with our minds and their complicated sorrows. When pressures build, we may develop a raft of opaque physical ailments that baffle and excite the medical profession or we can acquire a paranoid world-view that identifies all our enemies with political and economic ideologies – rather than with anything psychological closer to home…”

  1. school of life is wonderfull 🙂
but in their messages I miss so much the advice to practice daily MEDITATION
(I mean just the activity, not necessarily spiritual or religious ideology)
pretty shure that soon they will

  2. Thank you School Of Life! Your videos should be shown in all schools and community centers! I worked as an art therapist in a peer run drop in center. I often suggested people watch this channel 💗

  3. If we instead had no Disney movies and our parents fought Infront of us and we wernt sheltered from as much as the harsh reality that is the one in which we actually live for as long as they could, we wenrt told that we could be anything we wanted to be, instead where harshly confronted with our true realities, informed about the disadvantages and unfairness and dog eat dog attitude of man where topics openly discussed in the home.
Doesn't sound like it would be of any benifit,
We want the opposite of, experiencing an innocence and a "ignorance is bliss" kind of childhood to then growing up and being confronted by the reality and desperately wanting a refund on this adulting business.
But if we where confronted by reality off the bat would this lead to a darker society or a desire for change ?

  4. Look ive accepted your strong need to have the entire town think im the lunatic. But if the personality characteristics you possess as a sociopath gives an indication that you're never going to be satisfied, buy the fxckn gun for me then since you wont allow me to which was supposed to be against you.

  5. Mirana really knows her mental health. It's great to be princess of the moon, but it's okay to be princess of nothing, too.

  6. Towards repair is key. As if we can find a finish line to it. Ive decided on somethings to accept them. Its saddening when I think of this concept in respects to family members. But when I see the love im given outside of my family Im relieved

  7. Oh if only the world we live in would let us heal, let us accept the things that burden our mental health. but the reality is the world is littered with peopke who torment us no thisis not our defect or imagination these people are every where and seem to gravitate towards those of us who have from repeated assults now become easy targets For some of us our healthy minds are attacked by the crule the gaslighters the bullys who are never brought to justice. for those lucky enough to escape this abuse they may think all this talk about the bullys is sheer over senstiveness . while they have never walked in a world thats a place of hell. for those who suffer can not make a peep for they know as sure as the sun rises tommorrow that there eill be hell to pay for thrir dare standing up for them selves. there are men who are not small nore physicsly weak who are victims of being traped in a life long hell. thsts becsuse they pisses the rare wuality of love forgivness and the puduit of peace. They are told to strike back what fools are those who advise them to become something very ugly no retubution is not the answer for the abused the answer for now is that some one will help them without judgmentbdefend them that they are not forced to become the very thing they hate. whst a difference two can make compared to one. it is not pissible for these wicked people to touture us when there are friends who stand with us. but such solutions are only ideals they are not comon no matter how many peopke will insist that real friends are abundant. they are wrong and promote the false ideas that people who gaslight are not doung anything wrong. and they will always win ,Always!! it good that mental illness gets attention but we live still at a time thats the stone age . no one has provided a placeof safety for all those suffering can run to we are emotionsly homeless

  8. I’m so late to this one, but I love this narrator. I just watched the one about coping when you’re ill and can’t think because I’m there right now. And I had never heard her voice. I really love these videos.

  9. I don't understand why must we accept all negatives in life??? Acceptance to me means, when we like someone we accept them as they are. That make sense because we like them. Why must we accept something we don't like or don't want???

  10. Derangement IS normal… and so is a certain level of trauma. Therefore, psychology has done humanity a grave disservice by labeling us as mentally ILL.

  11. This is all good and well while your symptoms are "I am sad and don't wanna get out of bed". But having anger and arrogance as symptoms makes people hate you, and you hate yourself iževen more. How does one relax in in these symptoms? I can't just let them be

  12. Nice video! Maybe you guys can do more videos about the principles of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), also with stuff like cognitive defusion, self as context, etc. Would be cool!

  13. Can a mentally ill person heal with out medicine either using herbs or meditation because because I'm not on medicine I feel Great most the time just a little looming depression I can't seem to get rid of.im going to get a counselor I feel this would help me cause right now I have no support from my family.😢

  14. We all have times in our lives of bamboozlement which gives rise to indecisions and uncertainty and blankness of thinking cognitively! If we are strongly built mentally to overcome the dark challenge we have no preparation of it to combat by the strength of our capacity (of any sort), the time gives us irrecoverable trauma and injury to our lives! We don't have much time for contemplation and our built quality is thus vulnerable to have a recovery and get an experience of major part of our psyche which remains unexplored with an eye opener that rarely could have without such times of brokenness! But the question is should we venture for such an enterprise?! The brokenness when recovered with efforts that is best looking cannot give aesthetic values of the original imperfections be retained at any cost! An imperfect drawing of a line which wasn't meant to be not so shouldn't be retouched or overly written to make the first cut lose its pristine by making it difficult to recognize and smart looking because the value of the original is always adored by rich minds! Buddha himself undergone with wrong notion of getting enlightenment and he never preach the times of such travel of meditation as an important aspect of his getting enlightened that had to corroborated in his teaching if it was felt so important to Nirvana! It's a huge risky path to get to the untouched section of our psyche and the chances of getting back to the normal psyche is a great suspect! We might give chances to ourselves that help to some extent to a going on that seemed flexible to acceptable degree and as long as the brokenness doesn't bother us as much to shake and question our vulnerable aesthetics of getting along with a repaired performing mechanism! But it's safe not to trade the dread the deadliest enterprise over again and sometimes at any cost the main reason is that none of us wants to be unhappy for the same fault!
