  1. I have worked in MH in a rural area…..very right on. Very hones account of challenges of practicing MH in rural settings. Men are often reluctant to ask for help becuase they see it as not "manly." Being "manly" is very strong and it helps to ensure our survival as a species; men need to realize however that there are times when its ok to ask for help. I used to frame it this way to clients: it takes a "real man" to ask for help so that he can address and solve his problems. That got a lot of men to talk!
