Why Healthy Boundaries are ESSENTIAL for Recovery

Boundaries are invisible lines that define what is acceptable behavior for an individual. When we are involved in a relationship that has very little boundaries, that relationship becomes Codependent.

Codependency is a circular relationship in which one person needs the other person, who in turn, needs to be needed.
The Codependent person, known as
‘the giver,’ feels worthless unless they are needed by – and making sacrifices for – the enabler, otherwise known as ‘the taker’.

Codependency in a relationship can be avoided if both people are mindful of healthy boundaries and practice them
each day!

There are many types of boundaries.
They can be physical, emotional, sexual, psychological, or financial.

Boundaries are important for a number of reasons, including:
1) Respect: Boundaries help ensure that everyone involved in a relationship feels respected and valued.

2) Understanding: Boundaries help people understand each other better.

3) Communication: Boundaries help people communicate with each other more effectively.

4) Security: Boundaries help people feel safe and secure in their relationships.

5) Autonomy: Boundaries help people maintain their sense of autonomy.

6) Well-being: Boundaries help people maintain their personal well-being.

7) Balance: Boundaries help people maintain a balanced life.
