Why It Is Hard To Spot Covert Narcissists #npd #narcissist

Covert narcissists actively hide their narcissism. Most covert narcissists know they are shitty people. They also know that if they show you who they really are on the first date, you would pull your pitchfork out and ventilate their black heart.
To hide their narcissism they mostly use passive-aggressive behaviors such as silent treatment and withholding affection. They also love to use guilt-tripping and shaming you to control you.
However, most of the time it is done in such a way that they can claim it was only a joke, that you misheard them, or that you overreacted. Trying to pin them down is harder than grabbing slime and even if you put the narcissist in a corner, they just run away sobbing or act like the victim and call you the abuser.
Their attacks and put-downs on you are often so well-crafted that you will think to yourself. Wait, did they just insult me or compliment me?
Even if they did something like sell your favorite items without your permission. They are such good liars and actors that they can get other people to believe you told them to sell it or that it was an honest mistake.
