A decade-long study surveying millions of people has shown a connection between regular marijuana use and mental health illnesses in young adults. NBC’s Dr. Akshay Syal reports.

  1. "The human mind doesn't develop until you're in your 20s"…. So whys is okay to push the LGBT movement on kids???????? You can't have it both ways!!!!

  2. I knew there was going to be problems here when they opened it up worrying about "high potency" cannabis. We've always had very potent cannabis, though not available all the time. In. the Sixties and Seventies, it was Acapulco Gold, Panama Red, Maui Wowee, and a variety of hash. – More potent cannabis is actually healthier because you smoke less of it to get the same effect. — So this silly hand-wringing signals Buffalo Chips ahead!

  3. This "new" information comes from the prohibitionist agencies NIH and NIDA. They have been desperately funding research for decades, looking for some significant harm of cannabis to prop up the fraudulent prohibition. In all that time, they have not found even ONE. If they had, they, the DEA, the ONDCP, etc. would be shouting it from the roof tops and it would be on everyone's tongue. – Instead:

    [Crickets chirping]

 — So, ironically, even NIDA has given cannabis a clean bill of health! —

As the DEA's own administrative law judge, Francis Young, concluded after an exhaustive review of the evidence:

"Marijuana, in its natural form, is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man."

  4. The dead giveaway of junk science propaganda is when they start with moaning about "high potency" cannabis. We've ALWAYS had very potent cannabis, though not always widely available. In the Sixties and Seventies, it was Acapulco Gold, Panama Red, Maui Wowee, and a variety of hash. – More potent cannabis is actually healthier because you smoke less of it to get the same effect. – Just like alcohol consumers don't drink the same about of Vodka as they do beer. – Start making sense.

  5. I hate when I’m having a depressive episode and the best advice I can get from people is “smoke a joint “ … that’s so overused and it never actually helped

  6. Lets only look at it the worst way possible and make it sound terrible. Right off the bat, "These dont prove" there related to the symptoms. Do a real study and get back to us.

  7. I’m 31 and I use it frequently, have been for about a decade lol until I realized the growth and maturity of my body and not needing to intake as much . Every side affect they named you will feel and you mentally have to fight it. There’s no certain age. You have to mentally be stable to even want to intake this medicine. It’s stronger than you think. It cures but there has been an abusive outrage for this medicine. Your body has to actually need to intake it with responsible care.I’m learning that I can use but I don’t have to use as much as I’m getting older.

  8. ⭐"Socio-economic status" is the #1 predicting factor for developing brains and scholastic achievement, meaning kids from wealthy families do better in school than kids whose families have more economic strain. Anyone who knows anything about the developing adolescent brain will tell you that is the case. A study that purported an average drop of IQ among their "cannabis group" did not stratify their study's sample by socio-economic status; in other words, the wealthier kids were more apt to perform well than kids in the "cannabis group" who came from lower income families. That "research error" was exposed, corrected, and published in the very next edition of that journal, PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences).

  9. ⭐Schizophrenia affects approximately 1% of the population. That % has held steady since the disease was identified, while the % of people who have smoked cannabis has increased from about 5% to around 40% of the general population. While rates of cannabis use have risen and fallen over the years (mostly risen) the instance rates for schizophrenia have stayed completely flat. Countries with the highest rates of cannabis use have some of the lowest rates of schizophrenia: #173 Netherlands ● #177 Canada ● #181 USA ● #185 UK ● #191 Iceland ● #192 Australia. The country with the lowest rate of cannabis use in the world, Singapore, has the #7 highest rate of schizophrenia. Despite a mass increase in the number of Australians using cannabis the last 50+ years, Professor Wayne Hall of the University of Queensland found no increase in cases of schizophrenia in Australia.

  10. A major new study shows that people who eat raw dung or abuse the drug are more likely to be diagnosed with depression and bipolar disorder.

  11. Cannabis has been used for thousands of years so if it is linked to mental illness "now" all of a sudden, then it's because big daddy-government is tainting it with chemicals like they do with everything.

  12. To those who aren’t stoners (degenerates), and haven’t already made up their mind on this topic, check out this one book “Tell your Children”. Goes well-in-depth on this exact topic, refutes many of the counter-arguments I see being proposed in this comment section.
