  1. Stigma and shaming in the colored community is HUGE!!!! I can only speak personally for the black american community, but i have talk to other mixed race and minorities about this subject and we agree. I think it is the number one reason colored people don't reach out for help. Y
es affordability comes as a close second but the shaming and stigma by the community and relatives makes it so people do not even reach out to find out how much they can afford or what services are out there.

  2. It's hard regardless. I spent 4 months looking for help after my doctor retired, ran out of my medications and ended up in a hospital. Finally I settled for a nurse practitioner and gave up my ADHD medication because it was too hard to get (thanks stupid college students who abuse drugs I need). I'm not given half the meds I need, I'm paying out of pocket because my health insurance provider doesn't have in network care (0, zip, nada). Now I understand why 2/3 of gun deaths are actually suicides.

  3. And the most important piece that was conveniently left out, the racial wealth gap (legacy of slavery, Jim Crow, and ongoing job discrimination) means that most black people do not have adequate healthcare to cover mental health services.

  4. Your headline couldn’t be more off base. I’m a white woman with CPTSD who has been trying for years for the appropriate treatment-
And I’m a native. I see it the other way around! It’s rampant in CA. Come here if you’re not while! And the more kids you have is also evidently tied to ones value. Messed up.

  5. Interesting. I’m a white (i.e., light skinned) male—from a mixed family—and was offered a cocktail of psychiatric drugs or nothing. I was told that because I’m a guy, in a specific geographical location (I’m being told this by a female Indian medical student from the University of Washington), that I don’t qualify for any sort of chance to speak to a psychologist.

  6. I appreciate your video. It is well-presented and intriguing. I am a volunteer videographer, working with Urban Nonprofits who are dedicating their lives to uplifting and inspiring those who are downtrodden, in the Black & Brown communities. They all place great emphasis on Mental Illness in those communities. I will be filming and editing their From the Heart Train The Trainer Mental Wellness Modalities Workshop. I was wondering when editing if I could use excerpts from this specific video? I am particularly interested in discussions about stats.

I am hopeful that it is okay. This is not being done for profit, only to uplift spirits and do my part to help this world.

  7. Hi. This vid is so educational. I have been trying to look for a YouTube vid similar to yours that breaks down the stuff in this YouTube vid. 👍Your video really reminds me of the channel of Doctor Ethan. His tips are for sure knowledgable and I learned a lot for midterms. He is the helpful Doctor in Europe and he explains vitamins and diseases.

I suggest you check out his YT out and give the Dr a like over here! 👉 #LearnFromDrEthan

  8. If you are lily white, Canadian born, but (and it's a huge but) poor in Canada, it's impossible to get funding for actual mental health professionals (eg. Psychologist or Certified University Educated Mental Health Professionals). Further, even serious special needs patients professionally diagnosed as children are aged out at 21, requiring thousands of inaccessible dollars for full updated diagnosis to qualify for any adult Govt. Mental Health programs. The only real access to Mental Health Canadians who aren't rich have lives in the propaganda of the Canadian Politicians. Poverty is a criminal offence in Canada, and 95% of serious mental health patients live in poverty… It's the Canadian Way!!!

  9. If you are willing to work, you can get health insurance. U.p.s. gives free health insurance to part time and full time workers. U.p.s. will hire people straight out of prison. That is only 1 example. Stop making people think they are the victim and are helpless.

  10. I have volunteered with NAMI for years and years. I recommend the organization NAMI for anyone who has or has a loved one with a mental illness. You can't see a mental illness but it is difficult for people who have a mental illness.

  11. nonsense, this is a class issue.
Psychotherapists are some of the most multiculturally competent demographics around. Money is the problem, not the racism of white therapists.

  12. And the reason why white Americans view people of colour less valuable and they
